To retrieve and set up a Regular Compute Server License, follow these steps:
- Go to the Gurobi User Portal -> Licenses and locate the Compute Server License you will retrieve (e.g., the row with the correct ID).
- Check that the CATEGORY column shows Regular. Note: If you are setting up a Compute Server in a container, a Regular license will not work, you will need a WLS Compute Server License.
- Click the installation icon to the right of the license row identified in Step 1. A Gurobi Installation window pops up.

If your machine is connected to the Internet: In the popup window, copy the grbgetkey command and run it in a terminal of your machine to retrieve your Gurobi license key. The exact grbgetkey command for a specific license is of the form grbgetkey 253e22f3-... We recommend that you use copy-paste to copy the entire grbgetkey command from our website and paste it into a terminal window. The grbgetkey program passes identifying information about your machine to our website, which responds with your license key. Once this exchange has occurred, grbgetkey will ask for the directory's name to store your license key file (gurobi.lic). You should see a prompt that looks like this:
info : grbgetkey version 11.0.3, build v11.0.3rc0 info : Contacting Gurobi license server... info : License file for license ID 146542 was successfully retrieved info : License expires at the end of the day on 2025-02-15 info : Saving license file... In which directory would you like to store the Gurobi license key file? [hit Enter to store it in /opt/gurobi]: info : License 146542 written to file /opt/gurobi/gurobi.lic
- If your machine is not connected to the Internet: If your computer isn't connected to the Internet or your network security system does not allow the grbgetkey command to function, we also offer a manual license key process. Please refer to How do I use grbgetkey on a machine different from the one where Gurobi will be used? Note that an internet connection is not required after you have obtained your license key.
