Error 10009: Unable to open Gurobi license file
AnsweredHi everyone,
I am using Gurobi on Linux (WSL) and I have tried to install Gurobi as shown in the Youtube video on Gurobi installation on Linux.
Every time I run the gurobi_cl command I get the error message Error 10009: Unable to open Gurobi licence file '\wsl.localhost\Ubuntu\home\name\gurobi.lic'.
I have already tried to give the file all the rights with the chmod command and I have also placed it in the correct directory as shown in the video and in a post about the same error.
Can you please help me to solve this problem?
Thank you very much!

Could you try setting the system environment variable GRB_LICENSE_FILE to point to the gurobi license file? Please check also the article How do I resolve an "Error 10009: Unable to open Gurobi license file"? – Gurobi Help Center

Thanks for your answer. I have set the system environment variable to point to the gurobi licence file, but the error message still occurs. I also tried to implement the steps described in the article, but that didn't help either.

Hi, I am also facing the same issue. Is there any update on this issue?

Hi Ananthi, what OS are you using?

Are all of you running Linux on your Windows machine through Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL)? In addition, please answer the following questions:
- What version of WSL are you running?
- Did you install your Gurobi license on the Host Windows machine or the WSL Linux environment?
- What type of Gurobi license are you using?
If using WSL2 please view the knowledge base article on setting up a license to work in this environment.
