Gurobi Error 10009: HostID mismatch (licensed to xxxxxxx, hostid is xxxxxxx)
Awaiting user inputDear support team,
I am running Gurobi on my Linux (Xubuntu) notebook via an academic named user license.
When I'm at university, Gurobi works fine, but when I'm working from home, it complains about:
Gurobi Error 10009: HostID mismatch (licensed to xxxxxxx, hostid is xxxxxxx)
I've read your support article about What system changes can invalidate a license file (https://support.gurobi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360013194572-What-system-changes-can-invalidate-a-license-file) and it seems like the docking station for the new notebook is causing the issue (it worked fine for the docking station of my old notebook).
Now I know, where the error comes from, but this is not helpful to me.
What are the options I have to make Gurobi work at university and at home?
Does e.g. a WSL license also work, when I want to work while travelling with bad/no internet connection?
And are there any plans on making the hostid independent from the docking station?
All the best
Philipp

Hi Philipp,
The best option is to use an Academic WLS License as its authenticon does not depend on the software or hardware property of the underlying machine. However, you need to have a reliable internet connection while using Gurobi.
It appears that your new docking station includes its network adapter, resulting in a unique MAC address that is separate from the underlying machine. Since, as an academic user, you can have as many named-user academic licenses as you want, have you tried obtaining a new named-user license for when you’re using your notebook with the docking station?
Best regards,
