Cores vs. Threads
Hello community,
I have a general question about performance of Gurobi solver in light of cores vs. threads. Suppose that you have choice to solve MILP model on [8 cores / 8 threads] or [6 cores / 12 threads] processor. Could you give me some insight into which one would you choose? I suppose [8 cores / 8 threads] should be better for solver, but I'm not quite sure.
Thanks Peter

Do both processors have the same single-core performance (base frequency/turbo frequency)?

Hello Thomas,
thanks for reply. Yes both of them do have the same base and turbo frequency.

I guess, I would prefer the 8 cores version then, but for each individual MILP model, it is hard to predict what makes more sense. Maybe, the Gurobi people can provide some benchmarks.
