Unable to get solution even running for 10 days on HPC

Hello

I'd been trying to crack an Optimal Hourly Generation Expansion Problem. The idea is to find what is the best combination of different generators for a given power system.

The problem is/was expected to run for 20 years in hourly values, that is 20*365*24=175200 time periods. Since that is insanely big I will be happy to be able to run one year at the time, that is 8760. The formulation includes binary variables.

At the moment I am able to run 500 periods in less than a minute, but it runs "for ever" trying to solve 1000. Does anybody have a suggestion for how to improve the model? I coded it in Pyomo and use gurobi as the solver. If you need any code or anything let me know.
