Query Regarding Different Objective Values with Varying Warm Start Solutions in MIQCP
AnsweredDear All,
I am currently working on solving a mixed-integer quadratically constrained programming (MIQCP) problem using Gurobi, and I have encountered an issue that I need your assistance with.
When providing different warm start solutions to the MIQCP solver, I observe different objective function values. Furthermore, these objective values also differ from the solution obtained without any warm start. I am puzzled by this behavior and would appreciate any insights or explanations you can provide.
Specifically, my questions are:
- Why do different warm start solutions lead to different objective function values in the final solution?
- Why does the objective function value obtained with a warm start differ from the one obtained without any warm start?
Understanding the underlying reasons for these discrepancies will greatly aid in my research and ensure I am utilizing the solver correctly.
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.
Best regards,

Hi Chenhui,
Providing starting solution may lead to different Solution Path. Are these articles helpful?
What is a solution path?
Is Gurobi deterministic?
Additionally, the objective function value of solution output by Gurobi varies within the MIPGAP range.
What is the MIPGap?Best regards,
Ryuta0
