The WLS (Web License Service) allows you to run Gurobi Optimizer wherever you want, across regular machines or container environments (Docker, Kubernetes...). This portable license can be used seamlessly across multiple platforms, including those outside an academic network.
A WLS license is a perfect option for running Gurobi on the cloud. For more information, see What are the options for using an academic license on the cloud?
An Academic WLS client license:
- Runs on machines and containers
- Requires Gurobi v10 or later
- Requires an internet connection during usage
- Is valid for 90 days
- Can be extended as long as you maintain eligibility
- Supports a light version of Compute Server:
- Queueing is disabled
- Job limit is fixed to 1
- Note: The vast majority of academic users use the license directly without setting up a Compute Server. Please see How do I set up a Web License Service (WLS) client license? for instructions on using your academic WLS license without setting up a Compute Server.
