Our goal is to provide free academic licenses to qualified students, faculty, and staff at recognized degree-granting academic institutions. This one-year license can only be used for academic purposes like coursework, teaching, and research. When the license expires, you may request that we renew it.
There are two ways for remote academic users to obtain an individual academic license:
-
You can connect your computer to your university network through VPN (quick – may require some configuration):
Obtain an academic license using a computer connected to the university network through a VPN that tunnels all traffic through the university network.- Note on VPN: If possible, try configuring your VPN client to use full tunneling, where all traffic is routed through the VPN. For more information, please refer to this article: How do I resolve an "Academic Domain Error"?.
-
You cannot connect the computer on which you want to use Gurobi to your university network:
If you cannot connect your computer to your academic network, but have access to another computer on the academic network, log in to the User Portal on that academic-network-connected computer and create an Academic WLS license. Once created, this license is portable and can be used from any computer anywhere, even from outside of your academic network. Detailed instructions for requesting an Academic WLS license are available in the article How do I obtain a free academic license?.
